Mykonos Island

Little Venice

Little Venice is a picturesque, and romantic area in Mykonos town close to the sea. This neighborhood is replete with elegant and gorgeous old houses that are situated precariously on the edge of the sea. In these narrow cobblestone Mykonian lanes you will notice that the unique traditional whitewashed houses are converted into chic bars and restaurants, art galleries and boutiques. This charming little area, that is not far from the famous windmills and is overlooking the Aegean Sea, is indeed a photographers’ dream.

Church of Paraportiani

The Church of Panagia Paraportiani in Mykonos, (Virgin Mary) is among the most photographed churches not only in Mykonos but in the whole world. It is located at the entrance of the Castle neighborhood, right by the sea. Its name means standing next to the entrance door, meaning that the church was next to the Castle door. The unique thing about this church is that it is a cluster of five small churches that were built one on top or next to the other and that the oldest church was built in the late 14th century.

Armenistis Lighthouse

A testimony to Mykonos’ maritime history, the old Armenistis lighthouse is still a fully functioning lighthouse. This landmark is located in Fanari area, and it is very close to the Agios Stefanos village. The altitude of tower is 19 meters and is worth visiting because of the breath-taking scenery around it. From there you can see all the boats arriving and departing Mykonos, while Tinos island looks as if it is right next to you from there.
